Decades ago Ed Iwamoto moved from Oregon to Sitka, Alaska to work for the Forest Service. Making gourmet chocolates had been his hobby before the move. He was so disappointed in the quality of the chocolate he found in Alaska that he started making chocolates on the side, until the day he left the Forest Service to start Theobroma Chocolate. Theobroma means food of the gods and is the scientific name of the cacao plant. And thus a legend was born. Theobroma chocolate is found in fine retailers all over Alaska and rarely anywhere else because Ed is so fussy about its quality that he won't ship it if there is any chance it will get too hot or too cold. Ed is semi-retired now and his lovely daughter Carrie is carrying on the business. We are able to get Theobroma chocolate because Bobbi brings it back in her suitcase when she travels to Sitka. We currently have a great selection of milk, dark and white varieties for you to try.
Come check out all of our clearance yarns on our sale rack out front and in the back of the store. Worsted weight colorfast cottons for dishcloths and hot pads are 50% off! Other close-outs include baby alpaca and silk, and many more.
